Over 30,000 citizens voted in Chisinau municipaltiy by 10am

More than 30,000 people voted in the municipality of Chisinau by 10am. This is 4.7% of the voters written on the electoral rolls. The data were presented by the Chisinau District Electoral Council in a press briefing, IPN reports.

The voters in Rascani district of Chisinau are the most active ones. The voter turnout there was over 5.1%. In Botanica district, the turnout was 5.1%, in Centru – 4.9%, in Ciocana and Buiucani – by 4.6%.

The voter turnout in the suburban communities at 10am was of 4.2%. The inhabitants of Vadul lui Voda town are the most active ones, with a turnout of 7.3%. The lowst turnout so far was reported in Bacioi, of 2.9%.

The Central Election Commission said the voter turnout in Balti municipality at 10am was 5.7%, in Leuseni, Hancesti – 5.2%, in Nemteni, Hancesti – 6.3%, in Jora de Mijloc, Orhei – 13.4%, in Volovita, Soroca – 10.2%, while in Parlita, Ungheni – 6.9%.

For the elections to be valid, the voter turnout should be of at least one fourth of the voters. The candidate who gains more than half of the votes wins the elections. If no one gathers the necessary number of votes, runoffs are held in two weeks for the two candidates who obtained most of the votes. If the elections are invalidated or nullified, they are rerun in two weeks based on the same voter rolls and with the same candidates.
