More than 4,000 minors called the Children’s Helpline in 2023. The 116 111 service offers support in crisis situations and free psychological counseling. Available 24/24, the national service is toll-free, completely confidential and anonymous, and can be accessed from any landline or mobile network and via the chat available on the service’s website.

In 2023, 547 cases where children became victims of violence were recorded. 203 children were subjected to physical violence, 48 to sexual violence, 217 to psychological violence. 15 children were subjected to spiritual violence, and 64 to economic violence. The information was presented on the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, as the Children’s Helpline marks its tenth anniversary.

In 2023, at the first regional center for integrated assistance of child victims/witnesses of crimes in Bălți municipality, 257 children were assisted, most of them between 11 and 14 years old. Compared to 2022, the number of assisted children has increased. By the end of 2026, two more regional centers are to be created, in Cahul municipality - for the southern region, and in Chisinau municipality - for the central region.
