People receiving monthly pensions and social benefits of 2,000 lei or smaller will get lump-sum payments of 600 lei from the Government to help them celebrate Easter. The measure was adopted in a special procedure that bypasses Parliament approval.
Of the over 610,000 beneficiaries, more than 400,000 are recipients of age pensions, and the rest are recipients of disability pensions, survivors’ pensions or other social benefits.
The State Budget-funded payments will be distributed by the National Social Insurance Agency through its traditional payout service providers. The payouts are supposed to reach beneficiaries in the first half of April. This year the Eastern Orthodox Easter falls on April 28.
