The explosive ordnance disposal technicians of the National Army in April conducted 19 bomb disposal operations in the municipalities of Chisinau and Bălți and in localities of nine districts. As a result, they identified and disposed of 81 explosive devices and over 1,400 cartridges of different calibers, said the head of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service of the National Army, lieutenant-colonel Igor Livitski.
“The EOD technicians of “Codru” Battalion led by sergeant Yevgeny Axentii in Șerpeni village of Anenii Noi district identified three artillery shells, six antitank mines, 18 hand grenade, a rifle grenade, three fuses, TNT and 1 403 cartridges,” says a press release issued by the Ministry of Deference.
The EOD technicians of the Motorized Infantry Brigade “Moldova” performed a demining mission in Lipcani town of Briceni district, where locals discovered 20 artillery shells in a local forest. These dated from World War II.
Those who come across an explosive device are asked to call the 112 Urgency Service.
The EOD Service of the National Army so far this year carried out 55 bomb disposal operations all over Moldova, destroying 201 explosives of different types and 9,412 cartridges.
