The COVID-19 disease claimed over 82,000 lives worldwide so far. On April 7 alone, there were reported 7,380 deaths, almost 2,000 of which in the United States. Italy heads the rankings by the number of casualties – over 17,000, with 604 deaths because of COVID-19 being recorded on April 7, IPN reports.
More than 1.4 million cases of infection were logged in the over 200 countries stricken by the novel coronavirus. The United States reported the highest number of confirmed infections – over 400,000. The death toll from the novel coronavirus in the U.S. rose to almost 13,000.
Spain yesterday reported 704 fatalities from COVID-19. It ranks second by the number of deaths caused by the virus – over 14,000. More than 10,000 people died in France, while Germany reported 2,016 deaths.
A number of 24 cases of death associated with the novel coronavirus have been reported in Moldova so far. The confirmed infections total 1,056.
