Eight groups of producers will benefit from grants to the total value of over US$2.6 million following the last call for proposals announced within the grants program “Facilitation of Access to Markets” that is implemented by the Moldovan Agricultural Competitiveness Project (MAC-P), IPN reports.
Four of the selected groups of producers grow fruit. They intend to invest the obtained funds in the construction of modern cold-storage facilities. Another two cooperatives are walnut, almond and hazelnut producers that plan to modernize production by purchasing the necessary processing equipment.
The first two beekeeping cooperatives will get financial support for building complexes for collecting, processing, packing and storing bee honey. The highest value of a grant is US$350,000 for which the groups of producers must provide co-financing of at least 50% of the value of investment.
At the previous rounds of the grants program, 39 groups of producers obtained a total of US$10.9 million worth of grants. Most of the groups invested in the development of cold-storage facilities.
