The parallel count of the votes cast in the second round of the mayoral elections, which was performed by Promo-Lex Association, confirms the victory scored by the Liberal Party’s candidate Dorin Chirtoaca. According to the results announced in a news conference on Monday, 50.55% of the electors voted for Dorin Chirtoaca, while 49.45% for Igor Dodon. The parallel vote count was done at 300 polling places, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Promo-Lex delegated 300 short-term observers to monitor the elections at the polling places in Chisinau. There were also set up 45 mobile teams,” said Pavel Postica, senior specialist within the monitoring process. According to him, the parallel vote count showed that 187,134 persons voted for Dorin Chirtoaca, while 182,276 persons for Igor Dodon. In 12 cases of 300, the observers of Promo-Lex identified mistakes in compiling the voting reports. Pavel Postica said the number of inaccurate reports is five times lower than in the June 5 elections. This is a good sign, but it is also due to the fact that there were only two candidates on the ballot. Pavel Postica said that cases of campaigning, intimidation, insulting and use of violence continued to be recorded towards the end of the election day. A part of the ballots that have not been distributed weren’t stored in a safe place. The Association performed a parallel vote count for the third time. According to the data presented by Promo-Lex on June 5, Dorin Chirtoaca won 46.76% of the vote, while Igor Dodon – 48.35%. The figures were close to those announced by the Central Election Commission: Chirtoaca – 46.51%, Dodon – 48.07%.
