Parallel vote count: Dodon – 48.35%, Chirtoaca – 46.76%

The parallel vote tabulation performed by Promo-LEX Association shows that a second round of voting will take place in Chisinau. According to the results announced in a news conference on Monday, 48.35 of the electors voted for Igor Dodon, while 46.76% for Dorin Chirtoaca, Info-Prim Neo reports Promo-LEX chairman Ion Manole said the votes were counted in parallel in the municipalities of Chisinau, Balti and Comrat. The count was done at 190 polling places. The margin of error is 0.5%. According to the parallel vote count, the PCRM’s candidate Vasile Panciuc won the elections in Balti with 70.68% of the vote. The PLDM’s candidate Vladimir Tonciuc comes second with 15.90% of the poll. He is followed by the PL’s candidate Vadim Vacarciuc with 7.63%. (After counting 100% of the votes, the CEC announced that Vasile Panciuc won 68.7% of the ballot). “Independent candidate Nicolai Dudoglo won 57.52% of the vote in the municipality of Comrat. He is followed by independent Constantin Sibov with 20.78%, the PLDM’s candidate Petru Vlah with 8.24%, and the PDM’s candidate Petru Mavrodi with 6,44%,” said Ion Manole. He also said that cases of influencing the voters were witnessed in 24% of the polling places covered by the parallel vote count. In 3% of the polling places, there were encountered problems with the seals on ballot boxes, in 13% - some of the voters were intimidated and threatened with violence, while in 4% - the ballots were not kept in a safe place. Promo-LEX delegated 650 observers to monitor the voting process at 550 polling places. Promo-LEX is a nongovernmental, apolitical and nonprofit organization that promotes the democratic values and international standards on human rights in Moldova, including the Transnistrian region. The Central Election Commission is expected to announce the preliminary results of the elections in Chisinau and other settlements towards evening. With 43.33% of the votes counted in the municipality of Chisinau, Igor Dodon earned 51.59% of the vote, while Dorin Chirtoaca – 43.96%.
