Parks dirty again

The garbage left by those who celebrated Easter in the open air made the one-month work of the Chisinau cleaning services useless. After three days of rest, the parks and other green areas in Chisinau became dirty again, Info-Prim Neo reports. More than 150 employees of the Green Areas Association worked hard to clean up the city and set up more garbage bins, but the riverbed of the Byk turned again into a waste dump. The Association's head Eliferie Haruta asked the police to sanction the persons who litter the parks. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca recommended the Association to supply the persons going for a picnic with large bags in which to collect the garbage before leaving. “The barbecues in parks and other recreational areas in the EU are banned. We do not ban them, but ask that these places be kept clean,” Dorin Chirtoaca said. However, some of the Chisinau residents left the places where they rested clean. According to deputy mayor Vlad Cotet, a number of families that had a picnic in the park “Rascani” cleaned up before going away. The local authorities call on the residents not to litter the parks, to throw the garbage only into bins and be careful when making a fire.
