Parliament appoints members of National Integrity Commission

Parliament on Friday approved the members of the National Integrity Commission, whose mission will be to verify the assets and conflicts of interest of public officials, such judges, prosecutors, functionaries and other persons in positions of authority, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Commission's line-up looks as follows: Vera Lupu, proposed by the Liberal-Democrats; Ion Casian, proposed by the Liberals; Leonid Morari, proposed by the Democrats; Dumitru Prijmireanu, proposed by the Communists; and Cristina Cojocaru, representing civil society. All the members have equal rights. They have sworn to perform their functions in good faith and with integrity, to respect the Constitution and the country's laws and to protect public property, democracy and the people's welfare. The National Integrity Commission is an autonomous public authority independent of other governmental agencies, other entities or individuals. Its members are appointed by Parliament for a term of 5 years.
