The member of the European People’s Group in Parliament Iurie Leanca on June 2 was appointed as Deputy Speaker of the legislature, at the suggestion of Speaker Andrian Candu, IPN reports.
Andrian Candu said that consultations were initiated with all the parliamentary groups, but a part of these refused to take part. The second post of Deputy Speaker will continue to be kept for the opposition.
The post fell vacant after Lib-Dem Liliana Palihovich tendered her resignation, announcing her withdrawal from politics.
