Under the Constitution, Parliament is to hold the last meeting of the spring-summer session on July 31. MPs will have a recess beginning on August 1, but will have to be ready to be back to work in less than a fortnight and attend to a busy lawmaking agenda, announced Speaker Zinaida Greceanîi.

“Starting on August 12 it is recommended that all the MPs are in town, because there will be extraordinary sittings in Parliament,” Greceanîi told the plenary sitting on Friday.

Next in Parliament’s pipeline are bills related to the State Budget, the Electoral Code, the Prosecution Service Law and others. “Even if July 31 is the last day before the summer recess, there will be some bills that will need our attention. We already had three months of rest,” said the Speaker, referring to the period of lawmaking hiatus before the coalition was formed.

Before rising for recess, Parliament will hold plenary sittings on July 30 and 31, and the standing committees with work in progress will assemble as well.
