One year after the opening of his parliamentary bureau in Chisinau, Romanian senator Viorel Badea said that the bureau fulfilled its task of being a communication channel between Bucharest and Chisinau. He said the connection with the European, especially Romanian, business circles is the only method whereby Moldova can develop and make progress, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We mark a year of the creation of this bureau in Chisinau and will present an activity report. We had over 2,500 meetings with Romanians from Moldova, provided information about the way the new citizens take an oath of allegiance, and dealt with a lot of applications for nationality. Last year, Romanian nationality was granted to 180,000 people. Over 10,000 applications have been processed monthly, from last December,” the senator said in a news conference.
“The bureau played a very important role in organizing the trips of Romanian officials to Moldova. We also planned the trip of the head of the National Authority for Nationality so that she is in direct contact with the people here. We wanted to eliminate the rumors that Romanian nationality is no more granted.”
“We removed all the barriers that hindered the applicants from regaining Romanian nationality. Romania in 2009 provided 5,000 scholarships to Moldovan students studying in Romania,” Eugen Tomac, state secretary for Romanians everywhere, said in the same new conference.
According to Viorel Badea, the parliamentary bureau acted like a bridge between the Romanian and Moldovan companies. Place was freed for more foreign companies to invest in Moldova. In 2-3 months, there will be launched projects in agriculture and the energy sector, in southern Moldova.
