Two economic entities took part in a public tender contest held on March 21 to select the company that will make jubilee medals for the participants in the Chernobyl cleanup efforts, Info-Prim Neo reports. Natalia Lobachov, secretary of the working group that is dealing with the tenders, has told the Agency that the bids submitted by Uzina Mecanica SA “Artmet” and SRL “Atribut” will be examined as soon as possible so that the winner could start making the medals. She said that the form and design of the medals will be made known later. Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga said the day when the medals will be handed over has not been yet set. “The medals will be conferred during the week when it is celebrated the 25th anniversary of the event. We will probably send them to the district heads. We will involve the local public authorities and the Ministry of Defense,” said the minister. The 2,800 commemorative medals will be made by April 15. A sum of 608,500 lei will be allocated from the Government's reserve fund for the purpose. About 3,500 Moldovans took part in the activities to remove the consequences of the Chernobyl accident that happened on April 26, 1986. A part of them died.
