This year municipal services have collected less garbage during and after Chisinau's Patron Saint Day celebrations than in previous years. Amenities division head Petru Gontea told the City Hall's ordinary meeting on Monday that garbage was collected at every two hours to avoid piles.
In total, the municipal services collected 15 truckloads of garbage. Even if overall there was less garbage, not all the vendors authorized to sell refreshments during the City Day took care to leave their spots clean. Some of them didn't even have bins around, said Gontea.
Green Spaces Division head Eliferi Haruta said that besides sweeping, workers also had to wash the pavement, as the rainy weather created conditions for dirt.
Last year the municipal authorities reported that over 100 tonnes of garbage were collected in the wake of the Chisinau Day celebrations.
