A group of MPs of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), together with representatives of civil society, drafted a bill that creates legal preconditions for municipal councilors and public associations to challenge in court illegal decisions adopted by the local public administration. The bill was registered in Parliament today, September 7, IPN reports.

“We believe the local elected officials and the public associations should be able to challenge the normative documents of the local public administration in court,” PAS MP Vasile Grădinaru stated in a press briefing.

It is proposed making harsher the penalties for occupancy of public lots, issuing of illegal permissive documents, issuing and approval of building projects that go against the regulations in the field, etc.

Together with the Government, there will be finalized and approved the regulations on demolitions. “We now have a series of final demolition decisions, but they are not executed for the reason that these regulations weren’t approved. The illegal constructions should end not with fines, but with a criminal case,” he stated.

The MP said there will be approved the Urbanism Code that will enable to codify the legislation and to also exclude the multitude of shortcomings and provisions that are detrimental to the public interest.
