Patent holders picketed the Government Building on October 20, demanding that the provisions banning trade based on patent from January 1, 2017 should be annulled. The protesters said the conditions for the small business become more difficult and the people risk remaining on the road because they will be unable to continue work, IPN reports.

President of the Small Business Association Eugen Roscovanu said the small entrepreneurs ask to be allowed to work based on patent so as to be able to survive. The working conditions are already difficult. For example, this year the social insurance tax has increased by over 600 lei. The patent holders sustain large costs, but are yet obliged to buy cash register. In many European states, the small entrepreneurs work without cash register.

According to Eugen Roscovanu, the same norms can be applied to small businesses in Moldova, but there is an oligarchic circle that does not allow this. There are several state officials who support the patent holders, while the rest oppose with the aim of protecting their interests.

The president of the Small Business Association also said that the patent holders were invited to take part in the meeting of the Economic Council set up under the Prime Minister on October 21.
