“We will achieve results in fighting corruption when all the players – the Government, the local public authorities, civil society and the business community - combine forces,” Prime Minister Pavel Filip said in the August 3 working meeting of the group for monitoring the national integrity and anticorruption strategy for 2017-2020, IPN reports.
According to the Government’s press service, the Premier said the implementation of the strategy is essential for rooting out corruption. Given this objective, a comprehensive legal framework was adopted for preventing and fighting corruption. Also, the National Anticorruption Center, the National Integrity Authority, the Agency for Criminal Asset Recovery and the Service for Preventing and Combating Money Laundering are functional.
“The efficiency of these institutions and the implementation of the legal framework depend on our common effort and our will. We can achieve results only when we all become involved as each institution separately cannot change things,” stated Pavel Filip.
In the meeting, there were presented and examined nine sector anticorruption plans and the report on the monitoring and assessment of the implementation of the strategy in 2017. It was established that of the 43 planned measures, nine were carried out, 33 were partially implemented and one measure is yet to be carried out.
The meeting involved members of the Cabinet, district heads and representatives of the development partners, business community and civil society.
