The INTERPOL Headquarters in Lyon in December accepted the request of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau in Chisinau to issue a Red Notice for arresting and extraditing Gheorghe Cavcaliuc, the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS) has said. On January 17, the institution was informed through INTERPOL’s NCB in Chisinau about the blocking of the location of Cavcaliuc based on Article 3 of the Constitution of the ICPO-INTERPOL, IPN reports.
“Given this situation and the investigation measures planned as part of the criminal case, a letter rogatory was sent to the authorities in the UK,” said the quoted source. It also asked to indict Gheorghe Cavcaliuc in the criminal case in which victims of the offense are citizens Gheorghe Petic (framed for rape) and Ruslan Verbitski (framed for illegal conveyance of Kalashnikov cartridges to Ukraine).
The PCCOCS issued the press release in reaction to the British Ambassador in Chisinau’s assertion that the UK hasn’t received any request from INTERPOL about Moldovan citizens Veaceslav Platon and Gheorghe Cavcaliuc.
