PCRM and PLDM candidates to contend in second round in Cahul

A second round of voting will take place in Cahul town. The battle will be between the PCRM’s candidate Petru Burlacu and the PLDM’s candidate Ion Butmalai. According to the preliminary results, the PCRM’s candidate polled 6,332 votes, while the PLDM’s candidate – 2,091 votes, Elena Daud, head of the Cahul town district council, has told Info-Prim Neo. Seventeen councilors of the PCRM, five of the PLDM, three of the PDM, and two of the PL entered the Cahul Town Council. Eleven persons competed for the post of mayor of Cahul. The list of candidates for seats on the Town Council included ten parties and 13 independents. The Cahul Town Council has 27 members.
