PCRM challenges amendments to Law on Constitutional Court

The Constitutional Court is examining an application concerning amendments to the Law on the Constitutional Court, the Code of Constitutional Jurisdiction and the Law on the Administrative Panel, filed by a group of Communist MPs, who claim that these amendments run counter to a number of articles of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports In the December 21 meeting of the Constitutional Court, the PCRM’s jurist Sergiu Sarbu said that the given amendments deprive the Court of the right to examine documents with private character issued by the Parliament, the President of Moldova and the Government. These documents can be appealed not event to administrative courts. The authors of the application also challenge the list of state officials approved by the Parliament on May 21. It includes representatives of the special political or public interest. According to Sergiu Sarbu, not all the persons on the list represent the special public interest. The Parliament’s representative to the Constitutional Court Ion Creanga said the amendments disputed by the Communists run counter to the documents that regulate constitutional jurisdiction.
