The Communist lawmakers registered a legislative initiative to exempt a number of categories of people who are not working from paying the debts to the mandatory health insurance fund collected until 2014. They addressed a letter to Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, saying the imposition of penalties on people out of work, who cannot purchase a health policy, represents an inhuman act, IPN reports.
The letter to the Premier reads that there are ten thousand families that do not have financial resources to purchase a health policy, whose price rose four times over the last two years. More serious is the fact that thousands of people in difficulty are forced to retroactively pay the insurance policy and devastating penalties for overdue payment.
The Communist MPs say a significant number of people are harassed through court. Decisions to collect by force the debts to the mandatory health insurance fund for the previous years are to be passed against them. The Government should assume responsibility for the legislative initiative submitted by the Communist Party, in accordance with the legislation and the practice of this July.
