The bill on the amendment of the procedure for electing the head of state (Article 78 of the Constitution) that was put forward by the Communist Party will be in the agenda of the February 17 sitting of the legislative body, the leader of the Liberal parliamentary group Ion Hadarca said after Tuesday’s meeting of the Alliance for European Integration, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We agreed to invite several specialists to provide extensive information about the rise in the tariffs on fixed-line telephone services so as we could adopt a clear attitude. We will probably raise again the amendment of Article 78 of the Constitution and discuss the constitutional amendment proposal of the Communists,” Ion Hadarca said, referring to the main subjects that will be discussed in Thursday’s sitting of the legislature.
He also said that the Alliance is preparing for a special meeting in Parliament that will be centered exclusively on the method of electing the head of state.
Acting President and Head of Parliament Marina Lupu told the press that the ruling alliance in its meetings discuss the agenda of the Parliament’s sittings that will take place during the next two weeks. “We consider every bill in detail. The draft order of business will be examined and approved tomorrow (February 16) in the meeting of the Standing Bureau,” Marian Lupu said. The hour when the meeting will start was not announced.
