The president of the Democratic Party (PDM) Marian Lupu, in a program on Prime TV on Wednesday evening, said the delay in the negotiations and the tense atmosphere between the Liberal-Democratic parties is due to the colleagues from the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Info-Prim Neo reports.
Marian Lupu considers the dialogue on the formation of the parliamentary coalition should not be hastened. If no consensus is reached by the end of the year, the discussions can continue in 2011.
The Democrat leader said that some of the parties make the situation tenser and intimidate the members of the PDM through the agency of civil society, the media and political analysts. “Somebody needs this delay in the negotiation process in order to exert pressure on the Democratic Party. This is not a civilized and European approach,“ he said.
Marian Lupu also said that threats are made against representatives of the PDM. “They are told that if they do not discuss with the appropriate persons, they will have their houses burned,” he stated, suggesting that the threats are made by the PLDM.
The relations between the leaders of PLDM and PDM worsened after civil society staged protests and made calls to hasten the formation of the pro-European government coalition.
The PDM suspended the talks with the PCRM. The Democrats explained that the discussions with the PCRM reached an advanced stage and the PDM decided to give the parties of the former Alliance for European Integration the chance to state their positions.
