The Democratic Party (PDM) on March 27 begins to assess the activity of the party members delegated to work in Parliament, ministries and at agencies and the functionaries who are not party members, but were promoted to public posts by the party. The announcement was made by the president of the PDM Vlad Plahotniuc in a press briefing held after the party’s weekly meeting, IPN reports.

According to Vlad Plahotniuc, the assessment will be complex and will be based on professionalism-related criteria. “The PDM aims to develop a more efficient model of politics. We are trying to identify more professional instruments that would help us to increase the efficiency of the functionaries delegated by the Democratic Party,” said the Democratic leader.

The PDM pledged to work out an integrity code for party members. The functionaries who will not show efficiency will be replaced.

Vlad Plahotniuc also said that the party will contract an international company to carry out a nationwide poll concerning the political system in the Republic of Moldova and the uninominal voting system. In order to create a new political class, a consultative board will be constituted under the Democratic Party. This will consist of experts who are not members of the party.

In another development, it was announced that university law teacher Vitalie Gamurari was named the party’s new spokesman.
