The parliamentary group of the Democratic Party (PDM) will support the no-confidence motion put forward by the Socialist and Communist MPs, the party’s leader Marian Lupu said when speaking from the Parliament’s rostrum. Lupu said the no-confidence vote is given to the Premier, not to the man and politician Strelet, and if this remains in politics, the PDM is ready to cooperate, IPN reports.

The Democrats’ leader said that the Democratic faction expressed its no confidence to the Prime Minister in the evening of October 28 first. According to Marian Lupu, the Democratic MPs voted in Valeriu Strelet as Premier so that he brought things in order at the Government and dealt with the problems of the people. However, over the last two weeks, the Premier acted as the lawyer for Vlad Filat.

Marian Lupu noted the PDM has evidence that the Premier, together with Vlad Filat, was behind the protests mounted by the Platform “Dignity and Truth” against the government and misled the people. The Democrats accuse the Premier of trying to obstruct the investigation into the bank frauds, including by demanding that the director of the National Anticorruption Center should be dismissed.

Earlier, the Liberal Party and the group of unaffiliated MPs led by Iurie Leanca announced that they will not vote in favor of the no-confidence motion.
