The spectators of sports competitions who will violate public order inside gyms or stadiums face penalties in the form of fines or community service. Such provisions are contained in a bill drafted by the Ministry of Youth and Sports that was proposed for public debates, IPN reports.
The bill supplements the Contravention Code and institutes punishments for entering or attempting to enter gyms or stadiums without tickets or by breaking the rules of access and movement set by the organizers, for throwing different objects, chemical substances, pyrotechnics or colorants and for damaging property, walls, fences and other objects insides gymnasiums or stadiums.
The spectators will be penalized if they come to competitions with inscriptions, emblems, banners, posters, flags or other objects containing symbols, slogans, images or texts with obscene, discriminatory or racist content and if they shout insults, use obscene gestures or threaten with acts of violence
The penalty for such offenses is a fine of 500 to 1,000 lei or 20 to 40 hours of community service. Those who will enter the gyms or stadiums with firearms, munitions, explosives and other life-threatening devices will face fines of 2,000 to 2,500 lei or even 15 days of arrest.
Contacted by IPN, Ruslan Berzoi, vice president of the Moldovan Footfall Federation, said such an initiative is welcome. Similar measures were taken all over the world so as to make the spectators of sports events more disciplined. “The Moldovan Football Federation and the colleagues from other federations welcome such a law as this will not only penalize, but will also ensure discipline,” he stated.
As a result of public consultations, the bill will be approved by the Government and will be then transmitted to Parliament for adoption.
