The pensioners gathered again in front of the Chisinau City Hall on Friday, October 9. NGO “Salvgardare” leader Maia Laguta said the pensioners will interrupt the protests towards the end of the day and will resume them in a week. Meanwhile, they will collect signatures in support of the demands that they presented to the Chisinau administration, Info-Prim Neo reports. The protesters are dissatisfied with the rise in water and sewerage charges and the exclusion of the pensioners from the list of persons who travel free of charge by public units of transport. “We intend to collect about 10,000 signatures and will submit them to the Chisinau Municipal Council. If the decisions are not annulled, we will appeal to the Prosecutor's Office,” said the organizer of the protests Maia Laguta. Police officers in uniform and civies are paroling near the City Hall and ensure public order. The pensioners started the protests on October 29. During several days, they blocked the movement of vehicles along Stephan the Great Blvd. On October 2, they suspended the protests and took to the streets again on October 8, when the CIS summit opened in Chisinau. This way, they wanted that the protests become reverberating.
