Pensioners to stage new protests in Chisinau

The pensioners will resume the protests in Chisinau, the head of the public association “Salvgardare” Maia Laguta announced at a news conference on October 19. She said the pensioners will protest in front of the City Hall, the Government and the Parliament, Info-Prim Neo reports. The pensioners want to be again included in the list of people who travel by public means of transport free of charge and demand that the water and sewerage charges be reduced and that the pensions be increased. Maia Laguta said the local authorities' decision to provide compensations of 70 lei for trips by public units of transport to the vulnerable groups of persons remained only declaration. She stressed that the old people who do not have money to travel by public means of transport are treated rudely and forced to get out of buses and minibuses. Laguta also said that 19,000 signatures in support of pensioners' demands had been collected after the suspension of the protests.
