The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service calls on the people to obey the anti-fire rules on Easter night and on Low Sunday. Head of the Anti-Fire Division Sergiu Chircu recommended to be careful when using open fire and not to leave candles unsupervised at night and during services. More than 100 firefighting vehicles of different types and over 300 employees are ready to deal with emergencies during the Easter holidays.

Twelve vehicles and 70 employees of the Emergencies Service will be on guard in Chisinau municipality. At the God’s Birth Cathedral, a firefighting team will be on duty on April 15, from 6pm and until the service ends. Another team will guard near Saint Lazarus Cemetery on April 23-24, as of 8am.

To prevent fires before the Easter holidays, the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service assessed the fire risks at 1,534 religious buildings, while 2,157 persons were trained how to act in emergencies. “After the identified irregularities were removed, we can say that the examined facilities meet the fire safety norms,” stated Sergiu Chircu.

Each church will have by a person responsible for fire prevention. This will ensure access ways for parishioners and will limit access to prevent crowdedness inside.

Burning rubber tires on Easter night is not allowed, but if tradition requires it, elementary sources for extinguished fires should be possessed.

A fire occurred at Saint Dumitru Church in 2015 following a power failure.

In case of fire or other emergencies, one should call 901.
