Person killed, 14 injured in Monday’s traffic accidents

One person was killed and another 14 were hurt in five road accidents in Moldova on Monday, April 19, Paulina Iakimovski, senior PR specialist at the Traffic Police Division, has told Info-Prim Neo. On Monday morning, a Higer bus overturned on Vadul lui Voda St in Chisinau as a result of technical glitches. One woman died, while another nine passengers suffered different injuries. The Traffic Police Division launched the special operation “The Bus” to fight the violations of the rules concerning the transportation of passengers by buses. The operation will last by April 25. A 35-year-old woman riding a bicycle suffered a concussion, a thigh wound and traumatic shock when she was struck by a truck on a central street in Sofia village of Drochia district. A woman aged 32 was hit by a car at the intersection of the streets Bucuresti and Ismail in Chisinau. She suffered contusion of the soft tissues of the hip. Another woman, 43, sustained a trauma of the backbone when she was struck by a car at the intersection of the Malina Mica and Romantica streets. During the day, the traffic police identified 666 drivers who broke the traffic rules. 132 of them were fined for speeding, 65 for traveling with the seatbelt not fastened, while two for driving under the influence.
