The persons who need hip and knee arthroplasty and were put on the waiting list in 2010-2015 will be invited to surgery at the end of 2018 or the start of 2019.
The hospital that performs the operations will issue the patients with letters or will invite them over the phone. Contacted by IPN, head of the press office of the National Public Health Agency Olesea Croitor said the surgeries will be planned depending on the possibilities of the medical institutions.
The patients put on the waiting list for knee arthroplasty in 2010-2013 will be invited to operation in 2019. Those included in the list after 2014 will be operated also in 2019. The lists are now being verified.
According to the National Public Health Agency, the waiting list compiled in 2010-2013 includes 2,224 persons who need knee arthroplasty and 3,689 persons who need hip arthroplasty.
Over 1,000 operations were performed in 2017 under the hip and knee prostheses program. The National Public Health Agency hasn’t yet processed the data about the surgeries performed in 2018, but the National Health Insurance Company contracted services to the value of 76 million lei, stated the Company’s press officer Silvia Munteanu.
