Persons with status of refugee to receive benefits

The monthly benefit provided to refugees and persons who enjoy humanitarian protection will be 295 lei in 2010 or 10% of the average salary in the economy (2,950 projected for this year), as stipulated in the law on asylum, Info-Prim Neo reports. The benefit is distributed from the budget of the Ministry of the Interior at the request of those entitled, when they have no source of livelihood. The benefit is granted for a period of up to six months. Nine persons benefited from such financial assistance to the value of 13,150 lei in 2008, while in 2009 two persons received 5,600 lei. By providing financial support, Moldova aligns itself with the international principles for helping the refugees integrate into the society.
