Former Moldovan president Petru Lucinshi thinks 2011 has been a usual year for the country. “It’s been a year like any other, a good year. We didn’t have any natural disasters. The roads are being repaired, cars circulate, it’s been a normal year. We had joys and successes”, he said during Fabrika talk-show on Publika TV, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Nonetheless, he admits that people are not always satisfied. “It’s hard to please everyone. We don’t want to compare the situation in Moldova with the situation in the rest of the world. We should do more analyses to see what reserves haven’t been used. For Moldovans, the words of higher-ranked mean a lot. People wait for incentives from the government, to be encouraged to do something. I think it’s good that the AIE leaders speak on TV, but their differences mustn’t be sorted out in the media. It’s compromising”, the former president said.
Petru Lucinschi says that in Moldova there is a system separating the government from people. The MP doesn’t depend on the citizen, but on his party boss. People must realize the power is theirs, he said.
Arcadie Barbarosie, director of the Institute for Public Policies, agrees that Moldova has had more successes this year. “The glass is fuller. We had a relatively good year. Moldova became better-known on the international arena. We enjoyed support from abroad and came closer to European integration”, said Arcadie Barbarosie.
He thinks that although people don’t involve in the act of government, the elected officials must feel the pressure of voters every day.
Arcadie Barbarosie named the incapacity of the political elite to reach a compromise as one the biggest disappointments of the year. “AIE promised the reconstruction of the system that previously existed, but was instead consumed by this system”, he said.
The talk-show was a round-up of the year from several perspectives. The guests noted that 2011 was a starting point and democracy was returning. Concerning political parties, the guests referred to the polls showing the decline of PCRM and the impossibility of a one-party government.
