A gallery of photos produced by persons with disabilities was opened at the Municipal Library “B. P. Hasdeu”  in Chisinau on December 2. As in the previous exhibits of the kind, the photos were made using the Photo Voice method, each picture being accompanied by text. The photos represent sunsets, rivers, fish and flowers and are accompanied by such messages as “The change starts with each of us” and “We are not shadows. Try to know us!”, IPN reports.

Natalia Cojocaru, projects coordinator at the public association “Keystone Moldova”, which stages the exhibit, said that this year the participants are young people from five districts, namely Falesti, Criuleni, Calarasi, Ungheni, and Orhei. The 16 participants chose by themselves themes for the photos and tried to reflect a word where there are no barriers and where the wish to communicate persists. “The exhibit is an instrument of public participation for persons with disabilities. By their photos, they say what they think and feel, what is important for them and what should be done in their communities to bring about changes,” she stated.

Acting minister of labor, social protection and family Mircea Buga said that such events enable the persons with disabilities to showcase their talents and to prove that they are a component part of society.

The authors of the photos received diplomas of merit. The exhibition will continue until the end of December. It is the seventh exhibit “The world as I see it” that is mounted within the project “Involvement through advocacy actions and self-presentation” that is implemented by Keystone Moldova with the support of the SOIR Representative Office in Moldova.
