First Deputy Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc Friday submitted a legislative initiative, suggesting that the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO), the Audit Office, and the Central Election Commission (CEC) should be managed by the parliamentary opposition, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Before the meeting of the Council of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI), he told the press that wants the government to be transparent and show democratic spirit. “This way, we will show that we are correct, responsible and absolutely transparent. We will show that we are not afraid if the opposition examines the government process and how the public money is spent. There is nothing we should be afraid of. Those who steal should be afraid,” he stated.
Plahotniuc said the party that he represents is not obsessed about keeping the post of prosecutor general and posts of ministers or division heads, but does not want other officials to be dismissed, like the health minister and the head of the Customs Service or of the Tax Inspectorate. “Everything should be in accordance with the law. The investigation rules should be the same for everyone,” he stated, adding that the prosecutor general will be dismissed only if the investigation commission decides so.
The First Deputy Head of Parliament stressed that by his legislative initiative he does not want to distract attention from the tragic Falesti accident and that everybody will answer for their deeds, regardless of the position held. He denied the existence of an agreement with the parliamentary opposition.
Plahotniuc said that in the meeting of the Council of the AEI he will try to convince his colleagues to back this legislative initiative.
