The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM), as an associate member of the European People’s Party (EPP), became part of the informal network “Europa goes to the East” that was created on the initiative of the Conservative Party of Lithuania, IPN reports.

The declaration on the constitution of the network within the EPP was countersigned by the chairman of the PLDM Vlad Filat in a meeting with the head of the Conservative Party of Lithuania, ex-Premier Andrius Kubilius and with ex-Foreign Affairs Minister of Lithuania Audronius Azubalis.

According to a communiqué of the PLDM, one of the objectives pursued by the network “Europa goes to the East” is for Moldova to become an EU accession candidate and then a fully-fledged member of the European Union.

The informal network “Europa goes to the East” was founded in Vilnius on May 1, 2014.
