PLDM concedes Great National Assembly Square to trade unions

The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) is ready to allow the National Confederation of Trade Unions to stage a meeting in the Great National Assembly Square instead of it on May 1, when it is marked the International Workers’ Day. Under the law, the right to assemble in a particular place is given to the first who submitted an application to the City Hall. The trade unions also asked being allowed to organize an event in the central square of Chisinau, but they did it after the PLDM. Three more parties, including the Communist Party, and a nongovernmental organization intended to mount events in the central square on May 1. The PCRM announced they will challenge the mayor’s decision to give the square to the PLDM.
