The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) denies the accusations that its candidate for mayor of Sangera town Valeriu Poiata had been involved in the altercations of May 24, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the party.
The PLDM describes the accusations made by the candidate of the Democratic Party (PDM) Serghei Tribusean against Valeriu Poiata as irresponsible, saying they are electoral in character.
“According to our information that can be supported by evidence, it was Valeriu Poiata who informed the police about the incident. The police intervened promptly and stopped the altercations. We regret that a party that is a member of the ruling alliance aims harsh and groundless attacks at the colleagues. We call on all those involved in the local elections to show responsibility and use the common sense,” it is said in the communiqué.
The PLDM also voices hope that if the PDM’s candidate for Sangera councilor notified the police, they will thoroughly examine the case and identity those to blame.
Earlier, the Democratic Party announced in a communiqué that Serghei Tribusean was beaten brutally by a group of individuals who accompanied the PLDM’s candidate for mayor of Sangera Valeriu Poiata. According to the party, Valeriu Poiata hit no one, but witnessed the incident and encouraged the attackers with his presence.
