Head of Parliament Marian Lupu believes that the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) had other aims when it asked calling an extraordinary sitting of the legislative body. After the September 6 meeting of the Council of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI), Marian Lupu said the issue has not been discussed and this shows that some other goals are being pursued, Info-Prim Neo reports. “In the meeting of the AEI Council, such an idea wasn’t put forward. Moreover, we agreed that the Parliament’s session will start on September 29. You cannot ask your colleagues not to arrange a parliamentary sitting and say seven days later that a sitting is needed. There is something wrong. If it had been a serious matter, the authors of the idea would have raised this issue,” said Marian Lupu. He specified that one week ago, the PLDM did not want the Parliament to be convened. “I think I will convoke the Supreme Security Council in order to discuss the situation, not to put the banking-financial system in a dangerous situation or consider holding parliamentary debates that may turn into political speciation over the banking and financial stability in Moldova,” said Marian Lupu. On September 6, the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group asked the Parliament’s Standing Bureau to initiate parliamentary hearings within an extraordinary session of the legislature following attempts to appropriate holdings in financial-banking institutions operating in Moldova. There may be questioned officials of law enforcement agencies and of the Government.
