Members of the local organization of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) in Cahul - mayors, district and local councilors – announced publicly their support for forming a pro-European government that would take Moldova out of the faced social tensions and economic crisis. In a press statement, the members say they support the seven Lib-Dems who decided to join the parliamentary majority, IPN reports.

“We are united and make common cause with the MPs of the PLDM who aim to vote in a new Government. In these moments, they showed determination and consistency in achieving the objectives assumed publicly by the PLDM. We call on all the MPs to be responsible and not to push the country towards early elections as these will deepen the economic crisis even more,” reads the statement.

The signatories note that during the election campaigns they went to every home and promised better roads, water supply and sewerage systems, street lighting and repaired schools and nurseries to the people. They believe that these promises cannot be delivered if the PLDM does not form part of the government.

“The reforms stipulated in the Association Agreement can be implemented when taking part in governance. The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova cannot avoid the responsibilities assumed in the election campaigns so far,” says the statement.

Seven Liberal-Democratic MPs joined the parliamentary majority that undertook to vote in the Government. The parliamentary group of the PLDM declared they will move to the opposition.
