The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova considers the defection of MP Nicolae Juravschi from the parliamentary group and the party represents a gesture of betrayal and political corruption, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the PLDM.
“In this connection, we call on him to vacate the seat of MP that he gained on the PLDM’s ticket. This will be a gesture of honor and will demonstrate the independence of his decision,” reads the press release.
According to the PLDM, this decision was taken at a not at all accidental moment and is aimed at fully distorting people’s votes and at blocking the negotiations on the formation of a majority governing coalition. “The sponsors of this act do not understand that a European future cannot be built by political cruising and corruption. The real beneficiary of this act is evident,” said the party.
The PLDM noted that despite the pressure and dirty games, it firmly maintains its position that Moldova needs a pro-European coalition created based on people’s votes, not on corruption and political cruising.
On July 21, Nicolae Juravschi announced his decision to leave the parliamentary group of the Liberal Democratic Party and the party because he does not agree with the developments taking place inside the PLDM. He also condemned the way his former colleague Iurie Leanca was made to leave the PLDM in February.
It should be noted that the PLDM, PDM and PL have been negotiating the formation of a pro-European ruling coalition since the start of this month. The leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat repeatedly said that steps are being taken to hamper the formation of a coalition and the arrest of his relatives on suspicion of involvement in banking frauds is one of these.
