The Liberal Reforming Party (PLR) condemns the military aggression of Russia in Ukraine and supports the sovereignty, independence and European option of the neighboring state. In a communiqué, the party calls on the whole international community, especially the guarantors of the territorial integrity of the neighboring country, to take attitude and intervene promptly so as to counteract Russia’s attack on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, IPN reports.
According to the PLR, the official decision to dispatch troops to Ukraine is a stratagem aimed at legalizing the Russian military invasion in Crimea. “By their behavior, the President and Parliament of Russia defied and practically annihilated all the security mechanisms established in Europe after 1991. Russia adopted an irresponsible behavior based on its Imperialist-like mentality,” it is said in the communiqué.
The party is for imposing international penalties on Russia until it pulls out its military troops from Ukraine and requests examining Russia’s behavior given that it occupies the sovereign territories of a number of states, including Moldova and Georgia. The PLR considers that the only possibility of ensuring Moldova’s independence and of preventing military aggression is to become part of a collective political-military security organization, namely NATO.
