The behavior of the Liberal Party (PL) looks like political infantilism and this behavior will not contribute to the stabilization of the political situation and the election of the head of state, considers political analyst Arcadie Barbarosie, the executive director of the Public Policy Institute.
“This is the position of a naughty child who does not want a toy and asks for other toys, but does not want to take part in choosing a toy in the shop,” said Arcadie Barbarosie. According to the analyst, the Liberal Party, as a member of the ruling alliance, did not become involved in the negotiations on the identification of a candidate for the presidency.
“The Liberal Party’s position that “if you propose, we will tell you if we agree or not” is not a position for negotiations. I don’t know such types of approaches in negotiations. It is a new page in the theory of negotiations, written by Mihai Ghimpu,” the analyst stated for Info-Prim Neo.
As to Mihai Ghimpu’s assertion that the colleagues are exerting pressure on the Liberal Party, Arcadie Barbarosie said that it is the PL that now exerts pressure by its unconstructive position. “The Parliament’s legitimacy is in question and the PL’s behavior only diminishes the people’s trust in the legislature, in the Alliance for European Integration and in the democratic system in general,” he stressed.
According to the analyst, the Liberal leader’s explanation that they cannot accept Veronica Bacalu because they don’t know her is unserious. “If you want to solve the problem, you find a method and solve it,” he said.
Arcadie Barbarosie considers that most probably the Liberal Party wants to obtain posts and guarantees, despite Mihai Ghimpu’s nice statements. “I think it’s time to negotiate with the Communist Party so as to secure votes for electing the head of state,” he stated.
The Liberal lawmakers left the Parliament’s sitting after exchanging replies with the Liberal-Democratic and Democratic MPs over the presidential elections. They asked postponing the procedure for fixing the date of the presidential elections, while the other colleagues from the ruling alliance insisted that the date should be set in the February 24 sitting. In last week’s sitting, the Liberal MPs did the same.
