Prime Minister Pavel Filip offered his condolences to the U.S. people and authorities in connection with the 15th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks that shook the United States, IPN reports.
In a message to the U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden, the Premier renders homage to the victims of the tragedy, saying the people of Moldova are near those who were affected by the 9/11 attacks. Pavel Filip reiterates his firm position that the acts of violence and terrorism should be condemned all over the world and everyone should become involved in a common fight against these.
“This immoral and unprecedented act of violence against the United States of America cannot be pardoned. We must be united in the fight against terrorism, which is a global threat that does not have national borders,” says the Premier’s message.
On September 11, 2001, an al-Qaeda terrorist group hijacked four passenger planes and used them as weapons to crash into buildings. Two of the planes crashed into the Twin Towers in New York City while another plane hit the Pentagon. The fourth plane crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania after the passengers attempted to retake control of the plane. More than 3,000 people died as a result of those attacks.
