Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) president Mihai Poalelungi considers that the greatest issues in Moldovan justice are corruption and the “sale” of court files, reports Info-Prim Neo. In an interview with “Panorama” magazine, Poalelungi expressed his conviction that “if a judge acts on someone’s order, then he/she is “hooked”, i.e. there is certain information on that judge, or the judge is corrupt”. “The system should get rid of such judges. The greatest problems at present are not higher-up calls or “telephone” Law, but the corruption, the sell-out judges, who “market” their court decisions”, says the president of the SCJ. Meanwhile, “thinking objectively, the society is not ready for the cancelation or limitation of judicial immunity”, pointed Poalelungi. “Presently, this would be a rash decision. The Law representatives’ wrongdoings will lead to increasing pressure on the judicial apparatus. None of the judges will be assured that no one will try to file unjustified criminal claims against them”, thinks the president of the SCJ; meanwhile, he promised that “for breaking the Law, judges will be brought to disciplinary punishment, up to full termination”.
