Moldovan poet and publicist Eugen Cioclea was found dead in his apartment in Chisinau by a group of friends who went to visit him after he hadn’t answered the phone for several days.
Contacted by IPN, chairman of the Writers Union Arcadie Suceveanu said that Eugen Cioclea lived alone and his state of health has recently worsened. The publicist’s family lives abroad. His daughter came to Chisinau to organize the funeral. It’s not yet known where Eugen Cioclea will be buried, but his wish was to be buried in his native village Druta from Edinet district.
Critics named Eugen Cioclea the saddest poet in Europe. He became known in the 1970s, when he studied at the Faculty of Mathematics of the Moscow University “Mihail Lomonosov”. His debut volume titled “Common Denominator” appeared when he was 40.
