Poet Ion Vieru seriously injured in traffic accident

Poet Ion Vieru was admitted to the reanimatology section of the Emergency Hospital after he was involved in a road accident, Info-Prim Neo reports. The 68-year-old poet was struck by an Audi A-6 on Liviu Deleanu St in Chisinau on April 25. The doctors could not save him. A seven-year-old boy was hit by an Opel-Astra driven by a man aged 22. The accident happened in the courtyard of a building on Nicolae Costin St. The child suffered multiple contusions and was taken to Valentin Ignatenko Hospital. A girl aged eight was admitted to the same hospital with her right leg broken. She was struck by a Mercedes minibus running on route No. 102 at the intersection of the streets Gheorghe Asachi and Docuceaev. Yesterday and last night, the Chisinau Ambulance Service dealt with 730 calls, including 68 cases of acute viral infection, 77 cases of trauma, four strokes, two heart attacks and 16 deliveries.
