Police catch 11 thieves

Officers of the General Police Commissariat arrested two 19-year-old men from Orhei district suspected of robbing grocery stores in Chisinau. The Division for Combating Organized Crime caught nine members of a criminal group specialized in thefts of cars, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a news conference on February 16, Sergiu Turcanu, deputy head of the General Police Commissariat's Prosecution Division said the two young men have a criminal record and live temporarily in Chisinau. They robbed groceries in the evening, between 21.00 and 23.00.
“The police are taking measures to determine if the given persons had been involved in other offices. Legal action was taken against them. If the court finds them guilty, they will serve 6 to 10 years in jail,” Turcanu said.
The nine members of the criminal group are aged between 20 and 25 and are from Hancesti. They stole cars, broke into houses and committed other patrimonial offenses.
According to the police, the members of the group worked according to a well though out scheme . They stole mainly cars, appliances and gold jewelry and sold them on the black market at a lower price.
So far, the police discovered 11 cases of housebreaking and 8 car theft cases committed by the mentioned group. The offenders face 7 to 15 years behind bars.
