An inspector of the traffic police and a civilian from Rascani are charged with passive corruption by the Anticorruption Center. The policeman is suspected to have requested €250 to omit to record a road accident, Info-Prim Neo learned from a press release of the Center for Fighting Economic Crimes and Corruption. The inspector was denounced by the man involved in the accident, who was supposed to pay the money for the policeman to return his car papers and driver’s license. The money was to be passed to the inspector through a middleman from Rascani. The latter was caught red-handed when receiving the money branded with “CCCEC bribe” marks. The two suspects are charged with passive corruption, which is punishable by 5 to 10 years in jail, a fine of 1000 to 3000 conventional units and ban from certain functions or activities for 2 to 5 years. The mediator is in custody for 72 hours and the policeman is investigated without detention. Since the beginning of the year, CCCEC has investigated 61 cases of corruption.
